Ultimate Design Style Guide: Traditional

Posted January 4, 2017 In: /

Our exploration into the Ultimate Design Styles concludes with Traditional, a popular, long-established style, welcome in any home.

Traditional

The traditional design style brings together a feeling of nostalgia and warmth, creating a homely abode.

The standard traditional interior style can sometimes be stereotyped as old and out-dated; however, we like to look at it as vintage and fabulous. Bring style and elegance into your home with shiny antiques and beautiful furnishings, resulting in an endearing design that is both comfortable and classic.

Striking trimmed mirrors, roaring fireplaces, grand staircases and moulding statement pieces, paired with fine art paintings epitomizes traditional interiors. This style is all about balance, with symmetry from its architecture to its furniture placement. Our take on this fabulous style, is that it’s time to loosen the symmetry and create motion and energy within the home.

In terms of colour, neutral colours such as beige and white are typically incorporated. Duck egg and pale blues are subtle enough to work well. Add these hints of colour on accent pieces such as artwork, mirrors and soft furnishings.

Artisan culture fits well with this theme. Adding in carved tables with beautiful paintings and sculptures, alongside a roaring fireplace generates a relaxing environment, in particular during those winter months of the year.

With regard to window coverings, curtains and roman blinds are the ultimate in traditional interiors. Double up Style Studio’s Hex Stone curtains with Giza Stone roman blinds, which perfectly complement each other for that ultimate cosy feeling.

Coloured pleated blinds are a great option for introducing some colour to your window coverings. Using a statement piece allows the rest of the room to remain neutral with beautiful, simple furniture.
