Bring a Highlands Theme to Homes

Posted December 19, 2017 In: /

Along with the excitement of Christmas, Winter brings some key dates in the Scottish calendar.  Hogmanay and Burns Night are approaching, so what better time to update homes with some cosy window blinds, curtains and cushions inspired by the gorgeous, traditional fabrics found north of the border.

Here’s our interiors expert Lorna McAleer with advice on how to get the look.

Clash of the Tartans – mix and match luxury tartan window blinds and curtains

“A Highlands themed interior scheme is warm, inviting and timeless. And nothing says, ‘Highlands’ like traditional tartans!” explains Lorna.

“Roman blinds and curtains are a great way to combine tartans in varying scales and colours to achieve a snug, multi-layered scheme. An added bonus is that these thicker ‘woollen effect’ fabrics will also help to insulate windows too.

“Traditional reds and blues will always look fabulous, but for an on-trend update take inspiration from the rugged Scottish landscape with heather and soft brown/tan colourways. Our ‘Elgin’ fabric in ‘Heather’ is perfect for this purpose and works beautifully with the Dulux colour of the Year – Heart Wood.

“Style Studio has two styles of luxury tartans in its Roman blind, curtain and cushion collections: Elgin is an intricate fabric design with a dominant background colour woven with flecks of complementary colour, in five colour options whereas Nairn is a wool-effect fabric featuring a small, simple tone on tone check, available in seven colours.”
