Garden offices are rising in popularity and can be a light, airy and inspiring place to work from, especially given the positive effects that natural light can have on productivity. But with all that sunlight flooding in, selecting the right window coverings is an important factor when planning décor.

Here, renowned interiors journalist Rachel Ogden, asks us to step inside her office and offers her advice and experience choosing the window blinds for this beautifully designed, unique workspace.

Rachel opted for Style Studio’s Palette Vertical blinds in striking mandarin for her gorgeous garden office, which she teamed with soft shades of green and natural wood furnishings…

“I chose vertical blinds for my office as I knew they’d be the most versatile – helping to prevent glare on my monitor on sunny days without obscuring my garden views.

“I was keen to go for a bold colour – so often people play it safe with neutrals but bright shades really lift your mood and make any size space feel more vibrant. I chose orange as it echoed one of the colours in a clock I have in my office.

“One of the things I love about them is how easy they are to open and close and tilt. Each has a wand at the side that gives me complete control over how much daylight my office gets.

“I found the measuring service really useful as I’m lousy with a tape measure – only last year I confused inches and cm and managed to get the world’s tiniest bespoke shower curtain made for me. So someone else measuring accurately made me confident they’d fit perfectly – and they did. The fitter installed them far quicker than I could have done as a DIY job and he cleaned up after himself – minimal mess and fuss! All in all, a really good experience.”
