London Fashion Week in Interiors: AW 2017/18

Fashion has a tremendous influence on interiors, with interior trends often originating from the catwalk.  It was previously recognised that it took up to two years for catwalk looks to trickle down to interiors, however as interiors and fashion are becoming more fast paced the trends in both worlds are intertwining.

London fashion week was as inspiring as ever, showcasing the key looks for Autumn/Winter 2017/18.

A main trend for Autumn/Winter 2017/18 interiors is Midnight, a look inspired by the dark of the night. Faceted shapes, prominent motifs and a strong contrast of textures and fabrics create the illusion of twilight. Navy, silver and burgundy epitomise this trend with hints of sparkle. On the catwalk, Antonio Berardi, Roland Mouret and Jasper Conran showered us with fabulous glitz, velvet and chic sheens.

Block colours such as navy alongside burgundy sits well within a bedroom environment. Style Studio’s Banlight FR Navy vertical blinds, paired with burgundy soft furnishings create a strong Midnight vibe.

A huge trend for Autumn/Winter 2017/18 interiors, also moving into 2018/19 is Urban Graphic. Geometric designs dominate this trend with solid shapes broken up by texture and linear detail, utilising colours found on the street including concrete, pewter, black and turmeric.

Burberry, Mulberry and Mary Katrantzou were a few designers who took influence from the urban landscape including architecture, building structures and street colours.

Metallic Luxe will lead both AW17/18 and SS18, and is forecasted to be around for a while. Subtle and textural, the inclusion of metallic elements for this trend is done in a stylish yet understated way. Metallic yarns woven into cloth give a subtle shimmer and scattering of sparkle. Huishan Zhang introduced key colours we have predicted for AW, gold, silver and rose with Julien MacDonald and Erdem bringing sparkle and shine.
