Don’t Be Blinded By The Light – Derby Telegraph

Posted February 20, 2016 In: /

Don’t be blinded by the light as the days grow longer.

Warm sunshine – and lots of it – is what we all desire after the long, wet winter – not to mention this week’s chilling sub-zero temperatures – but when those golden rays finally arrive we do need a way of controlling them.

Sales of vertical blinds are soaring in the UK – and it’s easy to see why they are so popular, particularly in the spring and summer months, as homeowners opt for the flexible shading they provide from sunlight. Vertical blinds suit all types of rooms. While extremely popular in conservatories and sun-drenched rooms, they look classic and clutter free in kitchens, bedrooms and bathrooms alike.

To meet the growing popularity of vertical blinds, Style Studio, a brand of made-to-measure curtains and blinds available through retailers nationwide, has launched a new range of vertical blind fabrics for 2016 with new designs, patterns, colours and embossed effect.

It has more than 280 fabrics in its new Vertical blind collection. And, colour-wise, Style Studio has the most in-demand shades for 2016.

Brand manager Lorna McAleer has hand-picked four colours as key looks for this year: lavender, blues (and turquoise), gold and classic white.

Lavender – Soft, relaxing and comforting, lavender is a fabulous hue for 2016.

Team with soft greys and charcoal, or go all out for the colour purple and use different shades throughout the room to create an instant spring/summer update.

White – Classic white is a bright and brilliant scheme in the bathroom. It’s ideal for freshening up the home for spring/summer. It also creates a feeling of space in smaller rooms and, better still, will never date.

Gold – Whether embossed or a flat colour, gold is THE colour for 2016’s interiors.

Turquoise and Blue – Timeless blue, teamed with grey and white, or vibrant and bright turquoise, will stand the test of time in your interiors when layered with tones of blues, greys and cream.

Style tip: Can’t decide on your favourite colour or pattern? With Verticals you can mix and match the vanes to give your blind some character and personalisation.

Vertical blinds are ideal for taller windows and provide adjustable privacy at a twist of a wand.

Lorna added: “Vertical blinds give a fantastic light control. As well as being able to open and close the blind, you can angle the vanes to stop the sun streaming in. They can give you privacy but still let in light if you angle them a little. Plus they are available in blackout versions for additional light control.”
