Autumn Home Updates

Autumn is an exciting time of change. Take inspiration from the rich yellow, orange and red tones of nature’s autumnal colour palette – perfect for updating every room in the home with cosy and texture-rich décor schemes for the new season.

Double Dressing Windows – the perfect autumn home update

A practical, design-led solution for creating a cosy sanctuary for autumn is the new trend of double dressing windows by layering blinds and curtains.

The most popular combination is a Roman blind with co-ordinating or contrasting curtains. Both can be lined, adding two layers of heat retention versus just one – a stylish way of making homes cosier during the colder months.

Choose a Roller blind as an alternative to allow light in while the lighter nights are still here. Lighter curtain material could be chosen with standard lining so as not to darken the room.

Style Studio’s interiors expert Lorna McAleer says:

“There is a big trend for customers to get the best of both worlds in bay and other types of windows by double dressing a window with a made-to-measure blind fitting neatly in the recess and curtains over the top. By opting for both blinds and curtains, fabrics can be cleverly co-ordinated or contrasted to make a design statement, with the added bonus of the insulation benefits that each type of window dressing offers

Insulating Hive® Blinds for Autumn

Hive® cellular blinds are not only stylish but they also help homeowners to save on energy bills.

The blinds, named Hive® because of their honeycomb structure, are designed to give increased insulation at every home’s biggest energy holes, windows.

The cellular design holds a layer of air that acts as an insulator. The fabric is anti-static, has additional heat blocking qualities and is sound absorbent too. It’s available in standard and blackout options and there is also a fire-retardant variation.

For particularly cold rooms, energy saving Hive® cellular blinds can be used at the window with curtains over the top.
